Guess what? Your core is super smart. I mean, it holds you up, keeps you steady and balanced, allows for breathing and all sorts of positions. It’s brilliant! I truly believe that core “strength” is overrated.
A fun and adventurous journey of movement and awareness to brighten the core. Relearn some primal or developmental movements to gain trust in your amazing core muscles. This practice will take you through many variations of pigeon pose as well as some asymmetrical arm balancing.
Your core is extraordinary. Allowing for unparalleled strength and stability for the very human task of walking upright, carrying things, hugging and looking one another in the eye. But your core also allows for an incredible amount of mobility for a huge variety of movements and expressions. Your core is integral to your breathing and even your emotions. It’s always bothered me that something so smart has been diminished in our culture. We see it as strong or skinny or we hate it. Oh this is just my favorite way to train the core. More than anything, your core is designed to monitor and adapt to your movement. In other words, to respond to perterbation by returning you to center. When we challenge to core this way it is highly educational for your neuromotor system.
